Tempe Home Community

Tempe

Although Tempe may be best known for being the home of Arizona State University, with the second largest student body in the country, there is much more to this Southeast Valley City.

The locals casually break the city of Tempe into “Tempe” and “South Tempe”.

South Tempe borders Ahwatukee and Chandler and, in fact, shares school districts with these other two areas. Elementary and Middle School students attend classes in the award winning Kyrene School District.   The High School students attend Mountain Pointe in Ahwatukee or Corona del Sol on the Tempe / Chandler border.

Shopping and Dining are abundant and range from favorite local “dives” to dining at 4 star restaurants or shopping at Nordstrom or the other great stores at the Chandler Fashion Square. If you’re a baseball fan, you’ll love nearby Tempe Diablo Stadium, where you can watch the Anaheim Angels play their spring training games against one of your favorite MLB teams.

There are many custom home neighborhoods in South Tempe with spacious lots and even some with horse privileges. Some of these custom home neighborhoods include: Coventry Tempe, Graystone, College Lane, Circle G Ranches, and Buena Vista Ranchos.

A top favorite family area with a wide range of home sizes and price is Warner Ranch. Warner Ranch has great community parks and greenbelt areas. And, like all of Tempe is just a stone’s throw from access to I-10, the 60 freeway and loop 101.

Moving a bit north into Tempe, we will find a very eclectic mix of homes and neighborhoods. As we get closer to ASU, the homes tend to be older and have lots of charm. If you prefer the cozy and quaint when you shop or dine, you may want to bike over to Wildflower Bakery for breakfast or lunch and then stop in at Trader Joe’s for your favorite unique grocery items. If you like things on a larger scale, Tempe Marketplace is a massive, newer shopping area with large chain stores and family owned boutiques and dining of every description.

Tempe Town Lake is a fabulous park for biking, walking and family picnics. It is also the starting and finishing point for the Arizona Ironman Triathlon and several other “tri”events throughout the year. You may choose a modern condo in one of the newer high-rise buildings overlooking the lake.

If you are a college student, athlete, young family or an empty nester, the city of Tempe just might be the place for you to call home!
